ABOUT US
Citizen Farmers is about more than growing healthy food. It is about how growing healthy food can transform ourselves, our communities and our planet. The movement first started as a book by Daron “Farmer D” Joffe called Citizen Farmers: The Biodynamic Way to Grow Healthy Food, Build Thriving Communities and Give Back to the Earth. However, these ideas have grown into a movement made of gardeners and farmers everywhere who want to grow abundance both on their land and in their lives.
We are on a mission to create a worldwide coalition of citizen farmers who believe in…
Growing Healthy Food
We believe there is a farmer in everyone. Citizen Farmers educates aspiring gardeners to the most experienced farmers on how to grow healthy foods in order to live a healthier, happier and more fulfilled life...because everyone deserves healthy food.
Building Thriving Communities
We believe food is a connector that brings us together. Citizen Farmers inspires people to connect and build thriving communities through the act of sharing food and passing along knowledge and healthy living ideas to others.
Giving Back to the Earth
We believe that farming is a way of giving back. Citizen Farmers empowers people to live a lifestyle of giving back to the Earth by showing them how and why it’s important to be a good steward of the land and a conscious consumer for our planet.

the farmer d process
The Farmer D process and principles are inspired by the Citizen Farmers lifecycle of the garden with three stages and nine steps to grow food, build community and give back to the earth.
Each step has a related virtue that we cultivate within ourselves as we grow in the garden. It is through this framework that we work with clients, collaborators and citizens to cultivate healthy gardens, farms and communities.
